The Oxford Eye Hospital is a much-loved part of the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Based in the West Wing, the hospital looks after thousands of patients - from their everyday eye care through to the most ground-breaking eye surgery and innovative research.

The Eye Hospital has been loyally supported by many patients over the years, with donations, fundraising and gifts in Wills helping to fund some of the best possible equipment for diagnosing and treating patients.

Recent innovations, made possible thanks only to your kind support, include a digital kinetic visual field machine called the Octopus 900. This specialist machinery, which cost over £40,000, improves the accuracy and greatly increases the speed of testing and diagnosing visual abnormalities.

Head of Optometry, Patsy Terry, said: "This makes such a difference for the team and crucially for our patients. We are incredibly grateful to all who donated for this new equipment."

Other equipment funded by the charity includes a diabetic screening camera and a medical imaging tool, called an OCTA machine, which creates detailed 3D images of the blood vessels in the eye, without the injection of dyes. This is used to both diagnose and monitor eye conditions such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.

We know from conversations with our supporters just how special the Eye Hospital team is to you - so if you would like to support their work, through donating, fundraising or a gift in your Will, do get in touch.
