This weekend, Jenny Simpson from Chipping Norton is marking her 60th birthday with a personal challenge - she’s running her first ever half-marathon to raise funds for Oxford Hospitals Charity.

She’ll be joined at the Oxford Half Marathon by her daughters Laura and Lottie, son-in-law Paul, niece Emily and friend Tim. Jenny is determined to cross the finish line, even if she admits she might come in behind them!

Having worked for 23 years in the NHS in Oxfordshire, Jenny knows firsthand how hard hospital staff work to deliver care to their patients. “I know how hard all the staff work to deliver the vital services we rely on for ourselves, our family and friends,” she says, “so supporting Oxford Hospitals Charity felt like the obvious choice.”

Jenny completed the Town and Gown 10K earlier this year and has spent the last 16 weeks building up her training to prepare for the Oxford Half. Her steady preparation and family support have given her the confidence to take on the challenge.

Jenny is also set to be our highest fundraiser, and we wish her, Laura, Lottie, Paul, Emily and Tim every success on race day and will be cheering them on along the route.
