We’re excited to announce the launch of a brand new walking app at the NOC site this week, just in time for the start of Walking Month on Thursday.

Developed in collaboration with the physio and occupational therapy teams at the Oxford Centre for Enablement (OCE) and the app creators at GoJauntly, this was made possible by the generous support of one of our kind Oxford Hospitals Charity donors.

The app is designed to encourage both patients and staff to get moving, step outside, and experience the positive effects of nature.

Three accessible walking routes have been carefully mapped out, offering loops of 200m, 500m, and 1.1km. These walks cater to a range of abilities, including those using them as part of their rehabilitation journey.

Charlie Winward, Consultant Physiotherapist at the Oxford Centre for Enablement, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “We’re thrilled about this new app. We’ve worked closely with teams across the Trust — from therapists and patients to our incredible estates team, who’ve helped by clearing paths and fixing benches — to design routes that are safe, inviting, and therapeutic.

"Walking supports everything from cognitive health to mindfulness and reconnecting with the local environment.”

Krystal Harry, Programme Assistant at Oxford Hospitals Charity said, "We are so grateful to our donor for supporting this project. Well done to Donna McCluskey and the team for bringing this project to life. We hope both patients and staff benefit from spending time outdoors and enjoy the wildlife and natural surroundings around the hospital."

This app marks an important step in promoting well-being across the NOC — one walk at a time. If you would like to try out the walks download the GoJauntly app on the Apple or Play store.

You can also join them at the official launch on 1st May at 10.30 at the main NOC Reception.
